the dupuis house

Owner and designer, Todd Dupuis, contracted us to build his home in 2009.  Features of the home include: interior timber frame balcony and catwalk, recycled Douglas fir doors and custom fir trim, to name a few. One of the unique features of this home is the double chimney with the warm air return on one side and chimney on the other.

It is my opinion that choosing a general contractor is as important as choosing a house design. One has enough on their mind during the construction period with the hundreds of decisions that need to be made to wordy about the contractor. I do have some construction experience myself and I know that not all contractors are created equal. The measure of a good general contractor is not just the quality of their work but also the quality of the subcontractors. Do they show up on schedule? Do you feel comfortable that they are not cutting corners? I hired Trout River Homes knowing that I would not need to be concerned about those things. The house was of my design and I knew it well. I visited the site almost daily and was never concerned about the quality of the work and my standards are high.

Both Terry and Natalie were easy going and very pleasant people to deal with. They certainly take pride in their work and it shows in the finish product. I think there is something to be said about hiring a contractor that only builds two houses a year verses on that builds 20. You are never lost in the shuffle. I would recommend them to anyone in a heartbeat.
